Estelle Disch taught sociology for 40 years, focusing on gender and multiculturalism.  She wrote about pedagogy and did research and advocacy focused on sexual abuse by professionals. Raelene Camille Wyse holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. Her dissertation, “Sounding Jewish Multilingualism: An Aesthetics of Language Survival in Latin American and US Latinx Cultural Production” (2018), includes a chapter on the Yinglish in Aurora Levins Morales’ and Rosario Morales’ Getting Home Alive (1986).

Rachel Kranson is an associate professor of religious studies at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the author of Ambivalent Embrace: Jewish Upward Mobility in Postwar America (University of North Carolina Press, 2017) and co-editor of A Jewish Feminine Mystique: Jewish Women in Postwar America (Rutgers University Press, 2010). Her current research focuses on American Jews and the politics of abortion.

Nancy Gertner is a retired U.S. District Court judge for the District of Massachusetts. She left the bench in 2011 to join the faculty at the Harvard Law School. She is the editor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Representative Opinions (Talbot Press, forthcoming 2021). She is also the author of Incomplete Sentences (Beacon, forthcoming 2021), a judicial memoir about being a judge in a regime of mass incarceration, and In Defense of Women: Memoirs of an Unrepentant Advocate (Beacon, 2011).  

Michele Clark was a member of The Women’s Mental Health Collective in Somerville, MA, for fourteen years. She then taught for twenty years in the Goddard College Graduate Program in Psychology & Counseling, where her focus was feminism, chemical dependence, and the therapeutic relationship.

Fernando Davidovitsch is a professor of dance at the Federal University of Sergipe in Brazil and is working on a PhD in Performing Arts at the University of Sao Paulo. He researches the relationship between tradition and contemporaneity in Israeli dance.

Max Modiano Daniel is a PhD candidate in History at UCLA and is currently writing his dissertation, A Sephardic Century: The Transnational Entanglements of a Los Angeles Community, 1893-1992. He was the 2018-2019 Rabbi Joachim Prinz Memorial Fellow at the American Jewish Archives in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was formerly co-director of ucLadino and a researcher for the Sephardic Archive Initiative at the UCLA Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies. His research will be featured in an upcoming book published by Brandeis University Press, as well in American Jewish History.

Julie Felise Dubiner is a dramaturg, producer, and teacher. She has been on staff at American Revolutions/OSF, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and the Prince Music Theater and has freelanced and taught all over the United States.

Laura Yares is Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Michigan State University. Her work explores Jewish education as a site for understanding the ways that Jews have constructed and continue to construct understandings of self, community and other.

Sophie Wilson is a PhD candidate at Queen Mary, University of London. Her research examines Jewish suffrage campaigners in the British women's suffrage movement and considers intersecting identities such as race, religion, and class.

Karyn Grossman Gershon has served as Executive Director of Project Kesher since 1994 and traveled to the regions where Project Kesher works more than 50 times. Karyn is a graduate of Cornell University and Northwestern University School of Law. She has spoken on the role of women in the rebirth of Jewish life in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine on public radio and at various universities including Northwestern, Columbia, Washington University, and Stanford. She was a fellow at the Wexner Heritage Foundation and named a Jewish Chicagoan of the Year by The Chicago Jewish News.

Shana Penn is the author of books and articles including Solidarity’s Secret: The women who defeated communism in Poland (University of Michigan Press, 2005) and Gender Politics and Everyday Life in State Socialist Eastern and Central Europe, co-edited with Jill Massino (Palgrave USA 2009). She is executive director of Taube Philanthropies, based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dr. Natan Aridan is a researcher at the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He is editor of the journal Israel Studies. His recent book is Advocating for Israel: Diplomats and Lobbyists for Israel from Truman to Nixon. He is currently writing his next book on the contribution of Women and ‘Significant Others’ to Israeli Diplomacy.

Heather Hermant is a Canadian scholar and multidisciplinary performing artist based in Tkaronto (Toronto). She holds a PhD in Gender Studies from Utrecht University, The Netherlands, with a dissertation on Esther Brandeau | Jacques La Fargue. She has most recently published on the topic in The Sephardic Atlantic: Colonial Histories and Postcolonial Perspectives. Her body of performance work stemming from the Brandeau | La Fargue story has included the mainstage theatre work ribcage:   this wide passage translated to French and performed as thorax : une cage en éclats; and the experimental one-on-one performance Aujourdhuy / This Day, 1738. She is Lead Coordinator, Academic Initiatives at the Centre for Community Partnerships, University of Toronto.

Roberta Sands began her career as a clinical social worker before receiving her doctorate and becoming a social work educator. She is the author of three editions of Clinical Social Work Practice in Behavioral-Mental Health (1991, 2001, 2012), The Spiritual Transformation of Jews who Become Orthodox (2019), and numerous articles on family, culture, and religious change.

Rabbi Marianne Novak is a 2019 graduate of Yeshivat Maharat. She has been a long-time Jewish educator for the Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning and has served as a gabbait for the Skokie Women’s Tefillah Group for over 25 years.

Tamar Sella is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Music at Harvard University, from where she also earned a PhD in ethnomusicology in 2020. Her research focuses on ancestral memory in contemporary Mizrahi performance in Palestine/Israel, probing questions of race and colonialism in the region, interrogating persisting resonances of occluded social histories in the present day, and exploring articulations of alternative futures. Tamar has also written on jazz and creative improvised music in the United States and is a founding member of We Have Voice, a collective of performers and scholars working toward equity and safe(r) spaces in the performing arts.

Alma Rachel Heckman is Neufeld-Levin Chair of Holocaust Studies and Assistant Professor of History and Jewish Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is the author of The Sultan’s Communists: Moroccan Jews and the Politics of Belonging (Stanford University Press, 2021).

Having worked previously at Hebrew College and the Jewish Arts Collaborative in the Greater Boston area, Sara Gardner is currently a PhD student in Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Minnesota. Her work focuses on the culinary heritage and cultural identity of the Sephardic Jews. Sara is also the author of the cookbook The Rosh Hashanah Seder Cookbook: Stories and Recipes from the Reform Jewish Community of Madrid.

Marlyn Vinig is a screenwriter, poet, ultra-Orthodox feminist activist, lecturer and Israeli film researcher. Her first book, Haredi Cinema, was published in 2011 and became a bestseller; some consider it the first ultra-Orthodox work of film criticism in Israel or abroad, and it was a cornerstone in the study of cinematic work in the Haredi religious sector. In 2020, she published a follow-up book, A Cinema of Their Own: The New Female Wave of Haredi Cinema. Her research points to the transformation of Haredi cinema into an agent of social change.

Cai Parry-Jones is a curator and social historian specializing in digital and Jewish heritage. He is a Trustee of the Oral History Society and holds a BA (Hons) in History and an MA in Public History from the University of Bristol. He is the author of The Jews of Wales: A History, which was published by the University of Wales Press in 2017 and is based on the AHRC-funded doctoral thesis he completed at Bangor University in 2014.

Beth B. Cohen is the author of Case Closed: Holocaust Survivors in Postwar America (2007) and Child Survivors of the Holocaust: The Youngest Remnant and the American Experience (2018) a,s well as numerous articles and book chapters on the postwar experience of Holocaust survivors. In addition to teaching and research, she consults widely to Holocaust-related educational organizations, museums, and films.

Meghan Paradis is a PhD candidate in History and Jewish Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. Her dissertation examines the role of psychology and shifts in cultural ideals of emotional expression in the transformation of Jewish girlhood in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Her research interests include the history of emotions, women’s writing and journalism, violence against women and girls, and girlhood.

Adrienne Krone has a Ph.D. in American Religion from Duke University and is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Jewish Life at Allegheny College. She is a scholar of religious food justice movements in North America. Her current research project is an ethnographic and historical study of the Jewish community farming movement.
