The Twersky Fellow is responsible for bringing JWA’s education resources to a broad audience, establishing and stewarding new educational partnerships, and assuring alignment between JWA’s educational work and its other programming. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator with a passion for, and experience in, integrating Jewish women’s stories and voices into their teaching through the creative use of primary sources.

The Twersky Fellowship is a one to two year-long opportunity that begins in the fall. The Fellow is expected to work an average of 3-6 hours of work per week and is offered a $5,000 stipend per year. This can be a remote, in-person, or hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure JWA reaches a broad audience with its educational materials
• Find creative ways to incorporate educational materials and perspectives into JWA’s work beyond “educator-specific programming” (e.g., writing blog posts, contributing to e-newsletter)
• Facilitate 2-3 trainings/workshops online and in person
• Manage regular communications with educators, including email and social media
• Support promotion and marketing of educational content (online and in journals, etc.)
• Create and pilot new educational resources, such as discussion guides, oral history question sets, and more

Experience & Qualifications

• Experienced educator with proven track record of success engaging students and creatively using primary sources
• Eligible candidates may include (but are not limited to): day school teachers, public school teachers, synagogue school teachers, youth group educators, camp educators, rabbis, rabbinical students, retired educators
• Nuanced understanding of, and passion for, intersection of history, Judaism, feminism, and social justice
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; manage multiple projects simultaneously; and meet established deadlines
• Strong capabilities to collaborate and create on digital platforms such as Google Docs, SurveyMonkey, Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.
