Girls in Trouble: Women's Agency and Power in the Torah
JWA is thrilled to once again partner with writer, musician, and Jewish educator Alicia Jo Rabins to present two new study guides from her curriculum based on her song cycle about Biblical women, “Girls in Trouble.” During this online learning program, Alicia focuses on two groups of lesser-known female figures in the Torah: the Sotah (a general term for women whose husbands accuse them of adultery without any proof) and the daughters of Tzelofchad (who successfully lobby Moses for women's ability to inherit land). Although at first glance these stories may seem quite different, both raise fascinating historical and contemporary questions about women's ownership, agency, and power
