Esther Schor, the Leonard L. Milberg ’53 Professor of American Jewish Studies at Princeton, is a scholar, biographer, poet, and essayist. Her 2006 biography Emma Lazarus won the National Jewish Book Award. Bridge of Words: Esperanto and the Dream of a Universal Language, published in 2016, is a cultural history/memoir of the Esperanto movement. Her essays and reviews have appeared in The Times Literary Supplement, The New York Times Book Review, The New Republic, The Jewish Review of Books, Tablet, and the Forward. She lives in Princeton, New Jersey, and London.
