Elisa Klapheck
Elisa Klapheck studied political science, law, and rabbinics. She is co-founder of Bet Debora and author and editor of Fräulein Rabbiner Jonas: The Story of the First Female Rabbi (Wiley 2004). After her ordination, she served as rabbi first in Amsterdam and since 2009 in Frankfurt. Elisa is strongly engaged in the revival of Jewish life in Germany and advocates a new dialogue between religion and politics. She is editor of the series “Machloket / Streitschriften,” a forum for debate on contemporary societal questions in the light of the political tradition of Judaism. In 2013 she published the first monograph about the Jewish religio-political philosopher Margarete Susman.
