Yisrael Daliot
Yisrael Daliot, a broadcaster, musicologist and music critic, graduated in ethnomusicology from the Rubin Academy of Music, University of Tel Aviv, where he studied under Edith Gerson-Kiwi. He served as editor of music programs for young listeners at Israel Radio (1952) and since 1957 has been a member of the staff at IBA (Israel Broadcasting Authority), where he initiated regular folk-music programs. He has conducted field work and study tours for UNESCO in West Africa, Greece, Ireland, Norway and Finland. A Norwegian state grant (1969) enabled him to do research at the University of Oslo (Institute for Musicology). He serves as a freelance editor and producer for the Norwegian broadcasting station NRK. In 1993 he was awarded the Appreciation Prize of ACUM (Association of Composers and Musicians) and in 1994 the Royal Norwegian St. Olav’s Medal.
