I believe her father was Newton Minow with whom I attended Northwestern U Law School. It is no surprise t,hat coming from such a distinguished family she should go on to have an even more distinguished career of public service. There was a time in the 1920s and 1930s when Jews were banned from law schools like Harvard and Yale as being "unsuitable."
