At the International Forum on Women— associated with an official UN Decade on Women’s Conference in Kenya, Bella Abzug responded to an attack on Zionism with a strong spontaneous message on why she considered herself a Zionist, and the difference between disagreeing with a specific governmental policy and negating a whole country and freedom movement. She reminded the body that she disagreed with much of president Reagan’s policies, but was still proud to be an American.
