Even though I’m a white ashkenazi Jew, I can relate to how you feel in many ways. I’m not very observant and don’t have many Jewish friends. Living in San Diego, it’s shocking how little people know about Jews. I grew up in NJ, and people knew. Anyway, I have always felt Jewish, no matter how observant I am. It’s something you feel, something you know. Maybe we can start a West Coast Sisters chapter. I’d love to more connected in our way, not necessarily through a synagogue. I have found it challenging connecting in the community via synagogues and not really sure why. The last few years, I’ve lit Sabbath candles and found myself connected in praying for this world our country. You’ve done a great job in bringing Judaism into your life. Would love to meet you and your “sisters”. Shalom!
