Etta thank you for your thoughtful reflection. I too have been thinking since the panel. Are we in a moment of Hubris to think that American Jewry is going to end Judaism here..a thing that Holocaust, plague and Pharaoh couldn't achieve?
The Torah portion this week reminded me what Abraham and Hagar did when their children were in their hands and they had little hope: lift your eyes, hear the angels. I also think we need to remember what Abimelech said to Abraham: "God is with you in everything you do."
You set a good course for us that can become a reality when we remember with humility that our work is merely to do what every generation since our ancient ancestors have done: raise our eyes, hear the angels and know God is with us.
