Dear Etta: I loved your review. I think itÌâå«s important that Barbara and Shulamit wrote this book, because we are living in a very globalized world, and if we, humans, want to start creating a Messianic Era, we need to get to know each other, celebrate what we have in common, learn to respect our differences, and learn to live with respect(I donÌâå«t talk of tolerance. I think that if we can move from our ego and selfishness positions, tolerance is not needed. Understanding and respect is). And for this Messianic era to happen, we need to start at home. We have to start learning about how WE, the Jewish People, in this case, the Jewish Woman all over the World live, feel , eat, dance, learn, etc... Accomplishing this can lead us to do so with people from other religions. IÌâå«m not talking about a melting pot, my position has more to do with a veggie salad: not trying to be all the same way, but respecting and understanding the others to acompany them through their lives, and so they can do the same with us, with me. IÌâå«m the Bat Mitzvah girl from Mexico. I live in a wonderful Country: full of life, good food, incredible colors, rich Cultures, latin people that love and love being loved, that help and love being helped. But a Country with a History full of pain, abuse and conquest, and taking advantage of each other. As a culture, we still carry with those inferiority complexes, and they donÌâå«t let us move. Our Community is a reflection of it. I think that if we take time to see other Community options, from other parts of the World, we could start making changes. I donÌâå«t mean copy other models; I mean see them as other viable possibilities and adapt them to our reality. That way we can also start changing our Beautiful and wonderful country: Mexico.
