Great post, Nora; thank you! You're right to point out that within the mythologizing of the Anne Frank story, Miep stands as a very real, very human part of that story. I was moved by audio clips of her as I listened to a radio story about her passing this morning ... she sounded as humble and perplexed about her fame as I would expect from someone who had done something that was so selfless and courageous, but that, at the time, just seemed the obvious thing to do.
