Thanks for this thoughtful article. I am 50% Ashkenazi (mom's side ofc) and 50% European (mostly Irish and German). I have 3B/3C curls. My hair is dark black, thick, coarse, stubborn and trying to straighten it when I was younger had no effect, while coloring it completely destroyed it. I also have very low porosity hair. It's not usually frizzy unless I have to stand in the rain lol. I recently decided to take the plunge into "textured hair care" and bought Miss Jessie's Feather Soft Curls (it's basically a high quality curl cream that is light enough for low porosity curls). Check out Miss Jessie's whole curly hair care line to find one that works for your hair (there's a hair porosity quiz floating around too, I recommend finding out if your hair is high or low porosity!)
