We’ve heard about Emma Goldman, and many of us know about Bella Abzug. But did you know that Emma Goldman was arrested so often that she always carried a book so she would have something to read in jail? Did you know that Bella Abzug made an appearance in the 1979 Woody Allen movie Manhattan? Have you ever heard of Ray Frank, Anna Sokolow, or Hannah Greenebaum Solomon?

In honor of Women's History Month, our third webinar in the Sharing Stories/Inspiring Change Webinar Series explored the stories of Jewish women in history, from the well-known to those whose stories are not so often told. The program featured the lives of several pioneering women as well as practical ideas for how to bring their stories into programs and lessons about women’s history, Jewish history, heroes, and activism.

To explore some of these women on your own, visit Women of Valor, featuring biographical information and primary sources chronicling the lives of 16 trailblazing Jewish women. You can also order posters for your classroom, school or synagogue.
