A century ago, the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified, enshrining women’s right to vote in the US Constitution and culminating a struggle that women and their male allies fought for more than 80 years. Not only were Jewish women present—and vocal—on both sides of the campaign for women’s suffrage, but they continued to fight into the 1960s and beyond in order to make the promise of the Nineteenth Amendment a reality for all American women, no matter their race.
