Santa Fe 2010 - "History: Get into it"
by Gail Reimer
As soon as I arrived at our hotel and was handed my room key, I knew we had chosen the right place for the Jewish Women's Archive's first cultural/heritage tour. "HISTORY: GET INTO IT" was written across the top of the key.
When I unpacked, stretched out to rest for a few minutes and picked up the "Santa Fean," the magazine at my bedside, the lead article "Discovering New Mexico through the Lens of History," immediately caught my eye. The "lens" to which the titled referred, was the camera lens and the article was a thoughtful piece on "teasing meaning from the history museum's photography archives."
History is definitely in the air here as Santa Fe celebrates its 400th anniversary. Perhaps that explains the many Santa Feans who have rolled out the red carpet for the Jewish Women's Archive and the women and men who have joined us on this Santa Fe trip.
