JWA News Release: March 12, 2009 - Women's History Month Podcasts
Happy Women's History Month! At the Jewish Women's Archive, every
month—correction: every minute of every month—is Women's History Month.
Still, there's no reason why we shouldn't do something special in March when many
people bring women's history into focus more than usual.
Throughout this special month, and in keeping with the tradition of our monthly podcast, the Jewish Women's Archive is launching a series of podcasts of Jewish women recalling "ah-ha!" moments that catalyzed their social activism, political leadership, or work as religious innovators. Check out our first feature, Jewish Women and Social Activism. Listen to Bernice Stern as she recalls taking a stand to condemn racial prejudice against African-American soldiers serving in World War II. This moment shaped much of her career as an advocate for minority rights. We're inspired by the voices of these Jewish women; you will be, too. Stay tuned for more Women's History Month podcast features over the next few weeks. |
