Yehuda Leib and Fania Metman-Cohen arrived in Palestine in 1904, the first year of the Second Aliyah. Two years later they fulfilled their goal of establishing the Herzlia Hebrew Gymnasia in Jaffa, the first Hebrew secondary school in Palestine.
