I Left Russia Alone

When Janna Kaplan was finally allowed to leave the Soviet Union, she traveled alone. On the surface, her adjustment to life in the United States should have been relatively easy. She was bright, well-educated, and had skills that were much in demand and yet her adjustment was rocky. In this clip, Janna describes her efforts to make her home in Texas at a time when she felt that her deci-sions would reflect on all refuseniks.
