Linda Schearing

Linda Schearing is a professor at Gonzaga University, where she teaches Hebrew Scripture and women’s studies. She received her Ph.D. in Hebrew Scriptures from Emory University. She is the co-editor of Eve and Adam: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Readings on Genesis and Gender. Her academic interests include history of biblical interpretation and popular culture studies.

Ahinoam, said to come from Jezreel, is King David’s wife and the mother of his eldest son, Amnon. All references to her occur with, or in close literary proximity to, Abigail (another wife of David, king of Israel, c. 1005–965 b.c.e.).
