Elena Makarova
Elena Makarova is free-lance writer, educator, historian and exhibit curator, specializing in Jewish spiritual resistance in the Terezin (Theresienstadt) concentration camp in 1941–1945. The holder of an M.A. from Moscow University, she has written twenty-nine books and numerous articles in eleven languages and directed a large number of international exhibitions. Her book on Friedl Dicker-Brandeis (Vienna 1898–Auschwitz 1944) was translated into five languages; the corresponding exhibit (which she curated under the auspices of the Simon Wiesenthal Center) was shown in the U.S., Japan, Austria, Germany and other countries. She resides in Jerusalem.
