Mira Katzburg-Yungman
Mira Katzburg Yungman (PhD), recently retired from the Department of History at the Open University of Israel, is a scholar of American Jewish history, focusing on the history of American Zionist women's organizations and women’s Zionist organizations worldwide. She is the author of Hadassah: American Women Zionists and the Rebirth of Israel, (Oxford: The Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, 2012), a National Jewish Book Award finalist in 2012; the book was previously published in Hebrew (2008). She has also written various articles on this subject. Katzburg Yungman is the author and editor of numerous publications on American Jewish history (mainly in Hebrew). Notable among them is the three-volume anthology Hachavia Hayhudit Ha-amerikanit [The American Jewish Experience] (2007), comprising primary sources and articles, with in-depth thematical historical discussions and chapter introductions. Dr. Yungman is also a member of the editorial board of the Shalvi/Hyman Encyclopedia of Jewish Women (2021 edition) and a Spiegel Fellow at the Finkler Institute of Holocaust Research, Bar Ilan University.
