Catherine Kahn
Catherine Kahn is archivist of Touro Infirmary, the oldest (1852) private hospital in New Orleans. Before setting up Touro’s archives in 1990, she had been for many years in the manuscripts division of the Historical New Orleans Collection, where she held every position from registrar to curator. Cathy is involved in the preservation and presentation of the history of the New Orleans Jewish community. She is President of the Southern Jewish Historical Society and on the boards of the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience and Temple Sinai. Her most recent publications are Legacy: The History of the Community Chest and the Greater New Orleans Foundation, and a biography of Elizabeth Cohen, M.D. in Jewish Women in America. She served as project chair of the publication Jews of New Orleans: An Archival Guide for the Greater New Orleans Archivist.
