Barbara Burstin
Barbara Burstin is a long-time member of the history faculty of both the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie-Mellon University. She teaches courses on America and the Holocaust and on the American Jewish experience. She has written five books, including After the Holocaust: The Migration of Polish Jews and Christians to Pittsburgh; Steel City Jews, vol. 1 and vol. 2, on the history of the Pittsburgh Jewish community; Jewish Pittsburgh; and Sophie: The Incomparable Mayor Masloff, the first Jewish and first female mayor of Pittsburgh. She has also produced two films on Pittsburgh Jewish history. She has lectured extensively in the general community.
