Adele Sarah Bildersee

Adele Sarah Bildersee is the Director of Libraries and Information Services at The Dalton School in New York City. She was for many years a library media specialist for the Great Neck Public Schools, Great Neck, N.Y., and also served as adjunct professor for the Palmer School of Library and Information Science of Long Island University, Brookville, N.Y. From 1989–1994 she was the District Library Administrator for Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo, California. She has a B.A. (1965) in history and an M.L.S. (1968) from Queens College, CUNY. Bildersee has published a book of library skills for elementary school students and contributed a chapter for
School Library Media Annual, 1995.

Adele Bildersee

A feminist before her time, Adele Bildersee was an advocate for women in education. She graduated with the first class of the then all-women’s Hunter College in 1903 and went on to help found Brooklyn College, serving as both its dean of students and its director of admissions.
