Shulamith Behr
Shulamith Behr is Senior Lecturer in German Twentieth-Century History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. She was born in South Africa and obtained her B.A. Fine Arts and History of Art Honours degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She lectured in the History of Art department at Witwatersrand for seven years before pursuing her M.A. in History of Art at Manchester University and her Ph.D. in Art History and Theory at the University of Essex. Her interests revolve around cultural identity, politics and gender studies and she has published widely on Expressionism. Her publications include Women Expressionists (1988) and Expressionism (1999). More recently she has co-edited the Yearbook Arts in Exile in Britain: Politics and Cultural Identity (2005) for the Research Centre for German and Austrian Exile Studies, Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of London.
