Debra L. Schultz
Debra Schultz served as an advisor to the Jewish Women’s Archive in creating the Living the Legacy curriculum based on research she had done on the history of Jewish women in the civil rights movement. Schultz served as the founding director of programs for the Soros Foundation’s International Women’s Program for ten years. She has taught history and women’s studies at the New School, Rutgers University, and La Guardia Community College. In 2009, she was a CUNY Graduate Center writing fellow. She is the author of Going South: Jewish Women in the Civil Rights Movement and as of 2014 is working on a book about European Roma (Gypsy) women activists as part of her long-standing interest in activism and the intersections of race, ethnicity, and gender.
