Our work to expand the Encyclopedia is ongoing. We are providing this brief biography for Nicolette Mason until we are able to commission a full entry.

Body-positive blogger Nicolette Mason has become a leader in creating and celebrating fashion for women of all sizes and shapes. Mason studied at the Parsons School of Design and worked at a variety of graphic design jobs before beginning to write for Vogue, Refinery 29, and other fashion magazines in 2010. Meanwhile, she began blogging in 2009 on fashion, travel, food and other passions. In 2011 she became a contributing editor for Marie Claire, publishing the column “Big Girl in a Skinny World.” In 2014 she launched an eponymous clothing line through ModCloth, making sure to create sizes from extra small through 4X. She has also consulted with some of the top brands in the fashion world, including Chanel, Christian Dior, and Forever21. Resisting the fashion industry’s biases against full-figured women and against lesbians, Mason has spoken openly about her size and sexual orientation, working to change the culture.
