A champion in two very different fields, Loren Galler-Rabinowitz took home the bronze medal for ice dancing in 2004, then competed in the 2011 Miss America Pageant as Miss Massachusetts. Galler-Rabinowitz began ice skating at age two and began competitive ice dancing with her partner, David Mitchell, at age eleven, winning six junior and novice championships with him between 1999–2003. They won the bronze medal at the 2004 US Championships and repeated their success later that year at the Olympics, but their partnership ended in 2006, the year she entered Harvard. Galler-Rabinowitz graduated Harvard in 2010 and went on to pursue a medical degree at Columbia. In 2011 she was crowned Miss Massachusetts and competed in the Miss America Pageant, hoping both for scholarship money and for a chance to become the second Jewish Miss America. While she lost the national beauty competition, she remains an inspiration for many.
