Gal Gadot
Gal Gadot has credited her service in the Israeli army with opening doors for her as an actress, including the lead in the 2017 Hollywood blockbuster Wonder Woman. Gadot competed in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant as Miss Israel, then began studying law and international studies at the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center, a private university in Israel. Her combined modeling experience and two years of army service as a combat instructor, however, made her intriguing to casting agents, and she was asked to audition as a Bond Girl for Quantum of Solace. Although she was not chosen for the part, the experience kindled her interest in acting, and she landed a role in an Israeli drama about modeling, Bubot (Dolls), in 2008. The following year, she played Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious, a role she reprised in 2011, 2013, and 2015. She returned to Israel for the TV shows Asfur (Bird) and Kathmandu in 2011 and 2012 before debuting as Wonder Woman in the film Batman v Superman in 2016. The following year, she reprised the role in Wonder Woman, the first superhero film in twelve years to feature a solo female protagonist. More recently, she has acted in Red Notice (2021) and Death on the Nile (2022). In 2018 she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
