Lis Kahn
Born in Copenhagen, Lis Kahn came to America in 1960 and worked as a nurse and attorney in Indiana for many years before settling in New Orleans in 1991. She had been campaign chair for the Jewish Federation and was involved with the National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah, but after Katrina, she became more deeply involved as the incoming president of her synagogue, Shir Chadash, helping the congregation navigate its recovery through cleanup efforts and the search for a new rabbi.
