"I'll be Jewish for Christmas"
Last week I wrote a blog post about the "Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah" issue. But now I'm thinking we should all just disregard what I wrote because today I found this video of Katie Goodman of Broad Comedy singing "I'll be Jewish for Christmas," and it says everything I wanted to say and more. In song.
Enjoy!
"I'll be Jewish for Christmas" was written by Katie Goodman and Soren Kisiel, a wife-husband team, who are also the creators, writers and directors of Broad Comedy. They are also the co-founders of the Equinox Theatre Company. Katie and Soren were nominated for the MacArthur Foundation Genius Award for their unique work in theatre. In addition to Broad Comedy, Katie writes for O, The Oprah Magazine and is the author of Improvisation For The Spirit: Live A Creative, Spontaneous, and Courageous Life Using the Tools of Improv Comedy. She is a founding member of the nationally touring improv comedy troupe, Spontaneous Combustibles, and a nationally touring public speaker and retreat leader.
As a fellow improv comedian (well, in a past life anyway), I am a huge fan. While her book Improvisation For The Spirit is somewhat elementary for practiced improvers, it's a great introduction for anyone looking to improve their lives using the lessons of improv.
Thanks to Heeb for this find!
