'Mazel Tov, Mis Amigos', Orthodox cops, and confusing the goyim - Link Roundup Aug 25, 2009
Everyday I encounter a number of interesting websites, articles, and blog posts that are definitely worth mentioning. I hope you find these as interesting as I do!
- Six women, ages 79-100, became Bat Mitzvah in Charlotte, NC. Mazel Tov! [WCNC]
- In preparation for the High Holidays, Women's Lens gives you 'The Bluffer's Guide to Going to Shul.' [Women's Lens]
- "Mazel Tov, Mis Amigos" performed at the Out of Doors festival [The Forward]

- Memories of Molly Picon [The Forward]
- {C}
- Must female athletes choose between strong or sexy? [Feministe]
- First Orthodox policewoman in Ramapo, NJ, sues dept. for discrimination. This is a tricky one, folks. [LoHud.com]
- Are Michelle Obama's shorts too short? I am disgusted by this entire news story. It's ridiculous that this is news, and even more upsetting that the reporter suggests it is only ok for the First Lady to wear shorts because she's got the "gams" for it. Ugh. [MichelleObamaWatch]
- The Race for the Cure breast cancer walk in Portland was scheduled for Rosh Hashana this year. Rather insensitive, considering "Ashkenazi women have a genetic propensity towards breast cancer." Jewish breast cancer survivors are upset, and rightfully so. [USA Today]
- Sci-Fi flick 'District 9' not so alien for Jews [Jewish Journal]
- Haute Judaica? [The Forward]
- Washington's gay-friendly Orthodox rabbi [Tablet]
- Black Eyed Peas confuse the goyim by putting "mazel tov" and "l'chaim" in their lyrics. [Jewlicious]
