Rabbi Sarah Mulhern
Rabbi Sarah Mulhern is the Manager of Rabbinic and Lay Education for Shalom Hartman Institute of North America, where she serves as a faculty member and oversees programs for rabbinical students, Christian clergy, and lay leaders. She was ordained from the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, where she also earned a Masters in Jewish Education. Sarah is an alumna of Yeshivat Hadar, Pardes Institute, Drisha Institute, Beit Midrash Har El, and Brandeis University, and was a Wexner Graduate Fellow. She is currently pursuing additional private rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Daniel Landes.
During rabbinical school, Sarah worked in a variety of settings, including pulpits, social justice organizations, mikvaot, hospitals, and adult and youth education. Previously, Sarah worked at the American Jewish World Service, where she designed curricula, wrote divrei Torah, ran the Jewish justice text database On1Foot.org, trained educators, and designed and led service-learning programs. She is a well-regarded adult education teacher, and has taught across the country and in Israel.
Sarah lives in Riverdale, New York, with her husband, Rabbi William Friedman, and their daughter
